Doubling Point Light

Arrowsic, Maine

ATTENTION: VISITORS TO DOUBLING POINT LIGHT ARE CURRENTLY FORBIDDEN DUE TO THE UNFORSEEABLE PARTIAL COLLAPSE OF THE HISTORIC WALKWAY IN SEPTEMBER 2023. WE ARE CURRENTLY UNDERTAKING A MASSIVE FUNDRAISING COMPAIGN TO COMPLETELY REBUILD THE WALKWAY. PLEASE CLICK THE BUTTON TO HELP US REBUILD.

Doubling Point Light was established in 1899 as an aid to navigation on the Kennebec River to warn mariners of two hazardous, double bend turns on the northwest end of Arrowsic Island in Maine.

The Friends of the Doubling Point Light Non-profit was awarded stewardship of the lighthouse in 1998 under the Maine Lights Program.

Our purpose is to maintain and protect Doubling Point Lighthouse and its surrounding property, to preserve the navigational aid for users of the Kennebec River, and preserve access to the lighthouse.

Help Rebuild the Walkway

Doubling Point Light relies on people like you for funds to care for and maintain the light.  We are currently having a massive fundraising to completely rebuild the 300 foot walkway to the tower which collapsed during Open Lighthouse Day 2023.  Friends of the Doubling is a 501c3 nonprofit and is run by volunteers.  100% of contributions go towards the care of Doubling Point Light.

Viewing the Light

Due to the walkway collapse on Open Lighthouse Day 2023, the grounds of Doubling Point Light are closed until we can raise the necessary funds and rebuild the walkway.

However, the lighthouse can be viewed from across the Kennebec River at the Maritime Museum or via river cruise operated by the Maine Maritime Museum or out of Boothbay Harbor
