Doubling Point Light

Arrowsic, Maine

UPDATE:

– WE ARE THANKFUL TO ANNOUNCE THAT THE MASSIVE WALKWAY REBUILD PROJECT IS FINALLY UNDER WAY!  THANKS TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED FINANCIALLY AND SENT WARM THOUGHTS.  WE SO APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP DURING THIS CHALLENGING TIME.

– DUE TO CONSTRUCTION, NO PUBLIC ACCESS IS ALLOWED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

– WE WILL BE CLOSED DURING ANNUAL MAINE LIGHTHOUSE DAY ON SEPTEMNER 13, 2025.

Doubling Point Light was established in 1899 as an aid to navigation on the Kennebec River to warn mariners of two hazardous, double bend turns on the northwest end of Arrowsic Island in Maine.

The Friends of the Doubling Point Light Non-profit was awarded stewardship of the lighthouse in 1998 under the Maine Lights Program.

Our purpose is to maintain and protect Doubling Point Lighthouse and its surrounding property, to preserve the navigational aid for users of the Kennebec River, and preserve access to the lighthouse.

THE WALKWAY REBUILD IS UNDER WAY!

Doubling Point Light relies on people like you for funds to care for and maintain the light.  We are currently in the process of fundraising for and rebuilding the 300 foot walkway to the tower which collapsed during Open Lighthouse Day 2023.  Friends of the Doubling is a 501c3 nonprofit and is run by volunteers.  100% of contributions go towards the care of Doubling Point Light.

Viewing the Light

While the walkway rebuild is under way, the grounds of Doubling Point Light will continue to be closed to the public.  We will update you when we re-open.

However, the lighthouse can be viewed from across the Kennebec River at the Maritime Museum or via river cruise operated by the Maine Maritime Museum or out of Boothbay Harbor
